Grigori Rasputin: The Mad Monk of Russia

Image
Grigori Rasputin, also known as 'The Mad Monk', is an extremely mysterious figure in Russian history of which very little is known. He very quickly went from being a wandering peasant to being extremely close to the Russian royal family. Due to the political climate of World War One Russia, rumours became rife about Rasputin and his outrageous behaviour. These rumours portrayed Rasputin as a devil worshipping drunkard and sexual deviant; a seriously harmful figure to be so closely connected to the Tsar. Other rumours around Rasputin portray him as a psychic and faith healer; both are things he himself claimed to be, and he even gained a small following from this. Even his death is surrounded in mystery due to his killers claiming the man to have been nearly unkillable.  History Grigori Rasputin was born as Grigori Yefimovich Novykh, to his parents Yefim and Anna, on the 22nd of January 1869. In the Russian Julian Calender, this date is the 10th of January 1869. He w

Michelham Priory

Image
Located in East Sussex, England; Michelham Priory was founded back in 1229. Although no tragic events are said to have occured within the building, the priory has still had quite the history ranging from drunken monks to serving as a headquarters during World War Two. Michelham priory is also said to be extremely haunted with a number of spirits reported to reside here. These hauntings include a little girl who hides at the top of the stairs, a previous owner who is said to be a threatening presence, and a lady in grey who stares at people as they sleep.  History It is thought that the land Michelham Priory stands on was once a Saxon settlement. The name 'Michelham' is Anglo-Saxon in origin, and means 'the great watermeadow'. It's thought it have been named this way due to being located near a large bend in the river Cuckmere. During 1279, the name was spelt as 'Mykeleham'; but by 1325 the name had changed to be spelt as 'Michelham'. Mich

It is very important for me to say at the start of this article that I have found very few sources which discuss Joasia and that I have failed to find any video evidence of what will be discussed in this article. As to how I know of Joasia; Joel Stern, translator of the book about her titled 'The Elusive Force', contacted me via email and shared some articles about her. He also shared a couple of the photos I will include in this post as I feel they're really good points for discussion. I will discuss all I've managed to find out about Joasia, and the events which unfolded around her, and then I will discuss my own thoughts at the end. I have never been so conflicted on a paranormal case study as I am with what I've read, and seen, about Joasia. Another important piece of information to mentions is that Joasia's Polish surname is 'Gajewska'. I found that some sources wrote 'Gajewska', but that others wrote 'Gajewski'. I emaile
