The 2025 Database Review

Hello! This article will be quite different from the others as it is the big yearly update for the database. The purpose of this article is to thank you all for what an amazing year 2024 was, and to let you all know of various ideas and tweaks which will be implemented to the database during 2025. Throughout this article, I will include thumbnails from various articles published throughout 2024 to highlight the work you've helped to achieve. Without all of the people and groups listed above, the numbers I will discuss later in the article would not have been achieved throughout 2024. There are a few names in that list which I've added specifically for this article as, upon reflection, they have helped the database in a significant way. As a result, the full updated list will be included at the end of each article going forwards. If you want to be included in the list at the end of each article, all you have to do is share an article from this database to social media and make sure I know you've shared. Also, anyone who promotes the database in a different way will also be added to the list.

2024 saw not only an increase in people sharing the articles, but it also saw the start of me being able to recieve money for the articles I write. As for the list of people who have shared, anyone who donates to The True Paranormal will be thanked at the end of every article I write. As much as those who share the articles help the database to grow in following, the people who donate are the ones who allow me to continue working on the database as a job. This means I have more time available to write articles which can document the paranormal in as accurate and detailed a way as possible. 

What is 'The True Paranormal'?

Before I get onto the facts and figures, I want to properly outline to you all exactly what my aim with The True Paranormal is. I know some people I've interacted with through the year haven't quite understood it's aim or purpose, and so it's probably best to clear that up here. When establishing 'The True Paranormal' on the 27th of October 2022, my aim was purely to investigate the paranormal. I saw teams going out and livestreaming investigations while using phone apps and cat balls, and this indicated to me that investigating the paranormal should be very cheap and easy to do if those teams were legitimate. 

However, one thing that stood out to me was that none of these teams were analysing their results. It seemed like once the livestream ended, and the donations had been recieved, no further work was done to build on the data they had gathered with their footage. This is why many of the early articles on The True Paranormal are analysis of word lists generated by the Spirit Talker app. My aim back then was to investigate the paranormal in a complete way; one that didn't end once the camera turned off, and this meant analysing my results. 

As time passed, it became clear that I didn't have the time or technology to analyse the results as I had wanted. I was generating far more word lists than I was analysing them, and once my device began to indicate that it was possibly coming the end of it's life, I stopped creating the word lists. At the end of 2023, I investigated the 28 day cycle. This seemed to give interesting results, but it also seemed to indicate a potential danger to investigating to the extent I was. A taxi I was in nearly got hit by a tram a few hours after finishing an investigation, and I was becoming incredibly drained of energy as the investigations continued. These factors all led to me adjusting the databases aim to be more research focused. 

At the end of 2023, I saw that I hadn't been at all consistent with the articles I was writing. I put this down to the inconsistent shift patterns in the shop I work in, and so I arranged for my shifts to be on fixed days throughout 2024. I also decided to focus purely on the research because aside seeing that teams did not analyse their results, I also saw that there was vast opportunity for misinformation to have been spread regarding anything paranormal related. I had become aware of the youtuber 'Beardo Gets Scared', and he did occasionally point out this kind of misinformation. So, I decided to try and pioneer a written form of paranormal media which documented the paranormal in as accurate and detailed a way as possible. 

I saw that this kind of thing had been attempted by YouTube channels, but I took slight issue with the youtube medium. To release a video on YouTube means that video will not only become lost in all of the videos on that channel, but it also means that it will become lost amongst all of the videos which exist on the YouTube platform unless YouTube recommends it to you. I saw the advantage of the database here because it meant everything was in one place, and it meant articles could be easier to find through the search bar and tags section. 

When looking through sources for the articles, I noticed they either went into detail on the history or the hauntings and rarely both. This is what encouraged me to include as much detail as possible on both fronts, and to point out where the contradictions in information exist amongst sources. This level of detail which includes all information possible on the normal history of a topic along with the paranormal information is what led to me branding The True Paranormal as being 'the world's largest database of paranormal research'. It is a free to access database which has compiled as much information as possible from many different sources. This level of detail, and the ability to read each article for free, is why I believe it to be the world's largest database of paranormal research. 

As for the purpose of this database, it is not primarily for entertainment purposes. If you find these articles entertaining, which I'm sure some of you do, then that's fantastic. However, the database is designed as a place for research. You can think of it as each article showing an individual piece of a larger puzzle. The aim is to gather all of the puzzle pieces in only place so that hopefully it makes the larger puzzle much clearer for researchers, investigators, analysists, and debunkers. Due to this purpose, I know each article isn't necessarily the best written; but it's the information within the articles, the level of detail, and the accessibility of these topics which is key. 

The Start Of 2024 

Since the 7th of January 2024, I've done reviews of the database's statistics at varying points through the year. The initial intention was to do these reviews every other week, but sadly this did slip. Regardless, a total of 15 reviews have been done up to now with the latest being done on the 7th of January 2025. Various things have been tweaked through 2024, and one of these is advertising certain posts on Facebook. I run two adverts on Facebook, and I don't advertise anything on any other platform. One advert is to promote the database's homepage, and the other is to promote a location article. The location advert runs for a week, and then it changes to a different location. The locations are advertised from the Friday which follows them being published on the Monday. The cost of advertising an article, and the duration of it being advertised has not changed at all through the year.

The first review, from the 7th of January 2024, reads as follows:

As you can see, only the database and Facebook statistics were included in that first review. Over the year, The True Paranormal has expanded across multiple different platforms and it's seen fantastic results because of this. The latest review, written on the 7th of January 2025, reads as follows:

The Database Going Forwards 

As you can see from the latest review, the statistics vary greatly across platforms. This is partially due to the staggard approach through the year to joining various platforms. For example, Pinterest was joined much later in the year than the other platforms; and so this is possibly why it seems to be vastly underperforming. To help the database grow on each platform, I do intend on making a number of adjustments throughout 2025. A big thing I want to focus on through 2025 is consistency. Despite fixing my shifts, 2024 was not as consistent as I would have liked. Ideally, a location article would be published at 8pm every Monday, and a different paranormal article would be published at 8pm every Friday. This didn't always happen through 2024 as sometimes articles would be published hours, or even a day or two late. 

To improve consistency, I'm going to implement a strict sleep schedule for myself so that I start working on articles earlier each day. Through 2024, my aim was to start working on them by 3pm. For 2025, the aim is so start working on the articles by either 10am or 11am. This means I will be going to sleep at 10pm each day and setting my alarm for 8am each day to ensure I get plenty of sleep. This pattern will guarantee at least 7 hours a day going into writing articles for the database. The only exceptions to this pattern will be Wednesdays and Fridays. The Wednesdays will be excluded due to the tiktok livestreams, and Fridays will be excluded because I have friends who want to game with me during the late hours of the day. 

Another change regarding consistency is the Friday articles. Through 2024, there was no pattern to what was released on the Friday. This led to consecutive Fridays in a row being related to the same topic, for example a paranormal experience. I want to change it up a little so that an entire month isn't filled with only locations and one other paranormal topic. So, going forward, each Monday will be a different location and each Friday will be as follows:

1st Monthly Friday: A Paranormal Influencer Article

2nd Monthly Friday: A Paranormal Experience Article

3rd Monthly Friday: A Paranormal Artifact Article

4th Monthly Friday: A Spirit Type Article

5th Monthly Friday: A Word List Analysis Article

If there is a 5th Friday, and I need to achieve a backlog of articles, then that Friday may be a journal entry or a blog update instead of a word list analysis article. Regarding the articles which are currently on the database, I'm aware some do have issues; especially when compared to recent articles. Due to this, I intend on achieving a backlog of articles so that I can go through old articles and amend any issues such as spelling mistakes. This may also include reformatting, and possibly doing minor re-writes of articles to bring the older ones more in line and up to date with newer articles. This could also involve changes such as updating their thumbnails. In this revision, I will also amend the tags certain articles come under. I'm aware some tags can be condensed, and some more detailed tags such as 'castle' can be added in order to make certain articles easier to find. 

Regarding the livestreams on both Facebook and tiktok, I will be amending the time these start. Originally, I would upload an article snippet at 6pm on a Wednesday, then go live on Facebook at 8pm, and live on tiktok at 10pm. Instead, due to finding I've finished and uploaded snippets sooner than expected, I will be live on Facebook every Wednesday from 6pm and then live on tiktok from 8pm. This means the article snippets will be uploaded somewhere around 5pm. The Facebook livestreams will continue to be myself reading out the previous Friday's article, but the tiktok livestreams will be changing. 

Once I finish the Facebook livestream, it will be uploaded to Facebook and YouTube. Then, it will be uploaded as a subscriber only video on tiktok to ensure tiktok subscribers get some paranormal content which other tiktok users can't access for free on that platform. This means the tiktok livestreams will no longer be myself reading out the previous Friday's article. Instead, I will focus on chatting to the community and you can all see myself build some Lego. I know the tiktok community have expressed great interest in my lego collection, so I will do some build and chat livestreams. This means I can answer your questions, talk about lego, and I can still talk to you all about the paranormal.

Something for tiktok which I've figured out is the ability to advertise when I will be going live. This means you will all be able to see when I will go live on the main profile there. I'm hoping to figure out the same thing for Facebook, but we will see. I will definitely look into the many features of tiktok because I'm sure there are multiple things I probably could be doing, but just don't know about. I may also upload more image based content to tiktok, but this is just a vague undecided idea right now. 

There have been many requests for me to let people join myself on camera during the tiktok livestreams. Each time someone has asked, I've said no because I don't know them and they might do wierd stuff on camera. Due to the demand, I'm considering offering this as a subscriber only perk. If this happens, you may need to be a tiktok subscriber for at least 3 months. I may add a higher tier which includes this perk, but this is all just a work in progress right now. Just know I am trying to find a decent solution which weeds out the wierd people. If anyone does gain the ability to join, they won't be able to immediately. They will only join after a series of private communications with myself beforehand to see what they would like to chat about etc.

Regarding the birthday messages I've been doing on tiktok, these will also become a subscriber only perk. Again, the details here aren't finalised, but at a higher tier you will be able to have an entire tiktok livestream scheduled for your birthday. At a lower tier, you will be able to have a special video made by myself where I wish you a happy birthday. I have taken some names and birthdays from people last year, so any I haven't made a video for yet will still be upheld during 2025 for no charge. Other potential content for tiktok subscribers includes lego discussions, music discussions, and tv/film discussions. I know people in livestreams have asked lots about my thoughts on these topics, so by subscribing you could get the chance to hear my full thoughts.

To try and boost YouTube and Pinterest, I will add links to these platforms to the database so that they can be seen with the other social media links. I will also try to add more image content to Pinterest instead of purely video content. To boost YouTube, I will try to work on uploading a second article snippet during a week. This will likely occur after I return home from work on a Saturday. If this plan goes ahead, then you can expect a second article snippet to be uploaded between 8pm and Midnight on a Saturday.
