Mining Folklore: Coblynau, Knockers, and Tommyknockers

Image
Just as with my previous post announcing my intent on conducting extensive investigations through October, this post too has been prompted by conversations I've had with people I know. I was discussing with a good friend about the paranormal when they told me a story about an experience someone they knew had many years ago regarding someone dressed as a miner banging on their door and shouting to let them in. I'll include the full story in a seperate experience based post as my friend is currently trying to find out the full details, but regardless, hearing the story, and hearing the experience occured in a house on reportedly unstable ground built above old mine shafts where a disaster had occured, reminded me of an episode of DC's 'Constantine'. The programme aired back in 2015, and is fictional, but these kinds of programmes which focus on the supernatural tend to be loosely based on real folklore.  I was reminded of an episode of 'Constantine'

A True Paranormal Investigation Announcement: The Warren's 28 Day Cycle

Image
The other day I was chatting to some people in work about my interest in the paranormal and it got me thinking. We were discussing the alledgedly haunted dolls I own, and if I've experienced anything with them, and that then led to me discussing my solo ouija board sessions, one of which is pictured above. I've also been keeping up with the OVERNIGHT channel on YouTube and that really got me thinking. I've done a number of investigations but very little has occured. You then have the flip side to what I've found, such as public opinion and youtube channels which say lots should occur, especially if you poke the theoretical bear with the flattened out stick.  The particular videos from the OVERNIGHT channel I'm referencing are, of course, their investigations of Ed and Lorraine Warren's museum. I will cover these videos at some point as I do view them as significant to the paranormal space, regardless of if you believe the Warrens or channel are legit

Most Haunted Return to Pendle Hill Review

Image
Introduction On Thursday the 14th of September 2023, the Most Haunted team released a brand new episode of Most Haunted to their official YouTube channel. The episode is called 'Most Haunted Return to Pendle Hill', and I will be conducting a thorough review within this blog post. As a quick disclaimer, I try to always be fair in anything I discuss on my blog, and I always make sure to discuss both the positives and negatives to something I have seen. That being said, I can't see there being many negatives discussed in this post.  First I will go through a run through of the episode while making comments on various things which happen, and then I wil provide a summary of my thoughts along with a summary of activity featured at the end of this post. I haven't transcribed anything from this episode, however I will be quoting where I deem necessary.  The Opening Firstly we are treated to a card saying 'the following programme is definitely NOT for entertainm

The Colville Covered Bridge

Image
I'm going to try something a little different for this post and put all sources at the end, so if you want to know where I got the following information from, all sources will be listed at the end. If you haven't read my previous post, ignoring the blog update, I highly recommend you do as both this post and that one are very much so linked. The post I'm referring to is 'Whitney's Killer Crash', and I will include a link at the end of this post. The Colville Covered Bridge is located on the Colville Road and spans Hinston Creek near the Harrison County line, Kentucky. These kinds of bridges had been around since the late 1700s, and were covered to protect the bridge from the weather. Many ended up being destroyed during the American Civil War through both sides burning them down, and this occured between 1861 and 1865. The Colville Covered Bridge, however, was built by Jacob Bower during 1877, which means it is one of few covered bridges left. This p

The True Paranormal: Blog Update

Image
Hello! I felt the need to do this post just so you all have a clear view of what 'The True Paranormal' is and how often you can expect to see new posts. I wanted to start by apologising for not having posted for the last four months, I got a bit wrapped up in general life stuff. I do have a job aside from this blog, so posting every other day, which was my initial aim, was a bit tough to stick to as it can take around 8 hours for me to make a new post. For this reason posts will be uploaded at least once a week, with the next one being about the Colville Covered Bridge. I'm going to try and be a bit more social on Facebook at twitter to make up for the lack of posts, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding the paranormal.  For anyone who is new to this blog, 'The True Paranormal' is a group I have founded which at the moment is predominantly focused on paranormal research. I do intend on branching out into investigations, and have

OVERNIGHT'S Haunted Homies E3: Whitney's Killer Crash

Whitney's Experience: "I'm not sure if I should put a trigger warning, but this story deals with death and serious injuries. On November 16th 2020, my friends Kobe, Haley, and Dalton, and I went on a little late night trip to the Colville Covered Bridge. As every small town bridge ghost story goes; if you do this little ritual in your car, you'll see a lady appear either standing in front of you, or hanging in front of your car. Well, we had nothing else better to do apparently, so we decided at 2:30am we were going to go. On the way there I took a video on Snapchat and put the caption 'if we die, we die with the real ones', basically joking about going to the bridge. Once we got there, we drive through it slowly looking around at all the graffiti, and then once we drove all the way through we turned around and head back through it. I already had a bad feeling.  Once inside, we stop in the middle of the bridge. My friend Kobe parks the car, we then
