Journal Entry 7
8/10/22 - Entry 7
The time is 00:25 and I have decided tonight is the night to do my first investigation with the Ouija board. I've just finished watching an interview of the Warrens regarding Ouija boards. Not only have they called it a dangerous game, but they said 7/10 of their cases come from use of the board.
The Lords Prayer:
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed by thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Amen.
The Lord Is My Shepherd:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
My Present Thoughts
As you can see from this journal entry, I was extremely serious regarding the potential consequence of using a ouija board to investigate the paranormal. I was no stranger to what people, such as Ed and Lorraine Warren, said could happen as a result of using the board; and so I used what advice I could in order to conduct a safe session. Safety is why I recorded two prayers in the journal, plus it would be interesting to experiment and see if they did have any impact on paranormal activity and what was spoken by the 'Spirit Talker' app.
I absolutely understand people may read this journal entry and think it's a load of nonsense, and akin to people who put 'demon' in the titles of their videos. What has to be considered though is that we don't know anything for sure about the paranormal. Personally, I believe spirits do exist; however I'm skeptical when potential activity occurs as I'm aware not everything is down to spirit activity. I'm also unsure on if angels, demons, heaven, and hell etc all exist. We just don't know. I'm also well aware that the Warrens seem to be fraudulent, but as far as I'm aware they're also the leading paranormal investigators from a believer perspective. This is why I included what they said about the ouija board: investigating the board while using their advice deals with two questions by using one tool.
As far as I was concerned at the time, if I used the board then according to the Warrens I had a 7/10 chance of activity increasing to a serious degree. By their logic, all I had to do was use the board ten times and I was guaranteed to have experienced seven things through those ten investigations. If I used the prayers, then the chances would decrease as the prayers were said to be a method of protection. Really, due to how much the Warrens plus others feared the ouija board, I thought I should experience something with only one use of the board. If I didn't, and if I never experienced anything with the board, then I believed it was safe to say the Warrens were not speaking correctly at the very least.
I will discuss the investigation, and my findings, in future journal entries. I will say that, from memory of those entries, the results were very interesting. I also reached the point with my investigations where I did abandon all protections and I did break various ouija board 'rules' in order to try and get more significant evidence of the paranormal. It is worth me mentioning now that I believe the ouija board 'rules', such as not playing alone, only exist to add an extra level of psychology to the board. For example, by playing with others the ideomotor effect, where the planchette is subconsciously moved by the players, is easier to trigger than if playing alone. While playing alone, it is far easier to identify when the planchette was moved by yourself, potentially though muscles relaxing over time, then it is when others are also touching the planchette.
My current thoughts on the ouija board are that it isn't a tool that opens portals and summons things from other realms and parts of the world. Instead, I believe it can increase paranormal activity but this is done through a combination of belief of the user and the user's energy being directed into the board through use. The belief could increase false positives as the more someone believes, the less likely they are to immediately debunk, and the less rational they will be on an investigation. However, I feel if a spirit knows you're open to communicating and believe in potential communication occuring then they will be more likely to interact directly with you. I also think communication, or activity, will be more likely as the spirit can use the energy you've put into the ouija board. I think only spirits in the area that can hear what you're saying can approach the board, use it, and interact with yourself and your surroundings.
Regarding the legitimacy of prayers, I really don't know. From memory, I have had interesting results through the Spirit Talker app when I've read out the prayers; but there hasn't been anything I currently deem significant without further analysis or looking at future journal entries. I think there could be something to it, but it needs more investigation. It's also important to note that prayers having an impact on an investigation does not mean any communication has occured with an angel or a demon. It could just be that a normal human spirit is responsive to prayers as religion could have been a big part of their life.
Thank You!
Thank you for reading this journal entry! I know it was much shorter, but at the time I felt it important to not only give a quick update on my research regarding the Warrens, but also that it was important to have two prayers written down in an easily accessible place for when it came to investigating the board. I've had a quick look at the next journal entry, and it does discuss the results of the first investigation I conducted with the ouija board. I'm excited to discuss that entry as it does mark what I deem the 'real start' of my journal; so make sure you keep an eye out for that one. The next location article to be uploaded to the database will be about somewhere in Edinburgh; so keep an eye out for that too as I believe it is a well known location.
